If you’ve been following me on Facebook or Twitter, you’ve noticed that I’ve been talking about the situation that’s been going on at another of my hangouts, Super Arcade in Walnut, CA.
Just about a month ago, the Family Fun Arcade in San Fernando Valley closed down. It turns out that the owner also owned several other establishments, including Japan Arcade in Downtown Los Angeles and Super Arcade. To keep the arcade running, the caretaker, Mike Watson, has stepped forward as its sole proprietor.
Super Arcade is currently home to several of SoCal’s Fighting Game Community (FGC) local tournaments, like Wednesday Night Fights and I.E. Battlegrounds, major tournament qualifiers and has hosted several launch events, like Persona 4: Arena’s launch tournament, which was a huge success. Now, it seems that the Arcade is in a period of uncertainty. Check out this tweet from the official Twitter account.
For the next few days, a donation drive will be taking place at the provided link in the tweet. News of this has also reached FGC site, shoryuken.com. You can find more details about this by checking out their article here.
If you can do anything to help out, head over to the donation site. Thank you for reading.
